Important Stories for Class 9th

Story: 1
A Farmer and a Snake

Once there was a farmer. He was returning home. It was a cold evening. He saw a snake. It was almost frozen. He was a kind man. He took it at home. Furthermore, he put the snake near the fire. It got warm. The farmer gave it milk. It started moving. His child was playing there. The snake tried to bite the child. The Farmer killed the snake with a stick.
Moral:
Nature never changes

Story: 2
The Lion and the Mouse

The lion was once sleeping in the jungle. When the mouse started running up and down his body just for fun. This disturbed the lion’s sleep, and he woke up quite angry. He was about to eat the mouse when the mouse desperately requested the lion to set him free. “I promise you, I will be of great help to you someday If you save me.” The Lion laughed at the mouse`s confidence and let him go.
             One day, a few hunters came into the forest and took the lion with them. They tied him up against a tree. The lion was struggling to get out and started to whimper. Soon, the mouse walked past and noticed the lion in trouble. Quickly, he vaned and gnawed on the ropes to set the lion free. Both of them sped off into the jungle.
Moral:
A small act of kindness can go a long way.
  

Story: 3
The dog and his Shadow

One day, a hungry dog stole a piece of meat from a butcher’s shop. He wanted to go to a safe place to eat it. On this way, he reached the bridge of a stream. Crossing the bridge, he looked into the clear water flowing under the bridge. He thought that there was another dog with a piece of meat. He wanted to snatch that piece. Likewise, he opened his mouth to bark. But in doing so, his own piece of meat fell into the stream.
Moral:
Greed is a curse. 

Story: 4
A Foolish Stag

Once there was a stag. It was drinking water at a stream. It saw its reflection in the water. Furthermore, it was so happy to see its horns. But when it looked at its thin and lean legs, it became very sad. It thought they were ugly. Suddenly, it saw a pack of hounds coming towards it. It ran as fast as it could. Its ugly legs helped it to save its life. But its beautiful horns were caught in a bush. The hounds reached the spot and tore it to pieces.
Moral:
1.  Pride hath a fall.
2.  All that glitters is not gold. 

Story: 5
The Fox and the Grapes

Once a fox was very hungry. It went here and there in search of food. It saw a bunch of grapes in a garden. It was very happy to see the grapes. But the grapes were at a height. The fox jumped again and again, but could not reach the grapes. At last, it walked away saying “grapes are sour’’.
Moral:
The grapes are sour.

Story: 6
The Dove and the Bee

Once, On the bank of the river, there is a tree where a swarm of bees set up their beehive. They remain busy the entire day, buzzing on flowers and collecting honey. One day, a bee feels thirsty and goes to the river to drink some water. As the bee tries to drink water, a wave of the current sweeps it away. The bee starts drowning fortunately, a beautiful dove, who has been watching from a distance, rushes to help the poor bee. She plucks a big leaf from a tree and flies towards the bee. The dove places the leaf near the bee. The bee mounts on the leaf and dries its wings. In some time, the bee finds the strength to fly away to safety.
Moral:
Do good, have good. 

Story: 7
The Woodcutter and the angel

Once, there lived a poor woodcutter. But he was very poor. Everyday, he went out to cut wood in the jungle. One day while he was cutting wood beside a river. Suddenly, his axe slipped out of his hand and fell into deep water. He was helpless. He was crying and praying for his axe. God heard his crying and took pity on him. An angel came out of the water with an axe made of gold. The woodcutter was honest. He didn’t take the gold axe. The angel went into the water and brought another axe made of silver. The woodcutter did not accept the silver axe. He was again crying for his own axe. At this time, the angel brought his own axe and gifted him gold and silver axes for his honesty.
Moral:
Honesty is the best policy.

Story:  8
Three Friends and the bag of Gold

Once upon a time, there lived three friends in a village. They were poor. They decided to go to the city to earn money. When they were walking through the forest, they found a bag of gold. They decided to divide the gold among the three of them. They had been walking for a very long time. So, they were tired and hungry. They decided to have some food. One of them was sent to a neighbouring village to buy food. The others stayed in the forest. After buying food. He mixed poison in the food to kill them. He wanted to get all the gold.
        In his absence, the other two friends decided to kill their friend and divide the money between the two. So, when the third friend come back, the other two attacked him and killed him. When they ate the poisoned food, they were killed immediately as well. In this way, no one could get the gold.
Moral:
As you sow, so shall you reap. 

Story:  9
The Farmer and his sons

Once, there was an old farmer. He had three sons. They were very selfish. They always quarrelled with one another. The old farmer was worried about them. When he was on his deathbed, he wanted to teach them a lesson. He advised them to live in unity. But they did not care. One day he asked his servant to bring a bundle of sticks. Then he called his sons. One by one and asked them to break the bundle. But no one could do that. Then he unties the bundle. Now each one could break the stick easily. Then the sons promised to live united.
Moral:
Unity is Strength.

Story: 10
The Hare and the Tortoise

Once, there lived a hare and a tortoise. They were good friends. But the hare always boasted that he was able to move faster than the slow tortoise.
          At this, the tortoise felt humiliated in front of other animals. So, one day he challenged the hare in a race. The fox was made the supervisor and the lion the judge. There was a starting point and a point marking the end fixed by the fox.
           Both the competitors started their race at the some time. The hare ran faster. He was naturally much ahead of his slow friend.
           Now on his way, the hare wanted to take a little rest under a tree because he was sure of his win. And he soon fell asleep. On the other hand, the tortoise moved slowly but steadily without any rest. He reached the destination before the hare arrived. When the hare woke up, he found that he was defeated by his slow tortoise friend.
Moral:
Slow and Steady wins the race. 

Story:  11
A Thirsty Crow

Once upon a time, a crow was very thirsty. He flew here and there in search of water. Lastly, he saw a pitcher in the garden. There was a little water in it. He saw some pebbles in a garden. At last, he put some pebbles into the pitcher. The water rose up and he drank it and flew away.
Moral:
Necessity is the mother of invention. 

Story: 12
Greed is a Course

Once there was a dog. He was very hungry. He ran here and there in search of food. He reached a butcher`s shop and stole a piece of meat. He crossed a stream and saw his reflection in the water. He barked to get the other piece of meat. His own piece of meat fell down in the water.
Moral:
Greed is a Course.

Story: 13
Camel and Jackal

A camel and a jackal were friends. One day, the jackal took his friend to a big sugarcane form. It was opposite the river. After a sumptuous meal, the jackal began to howl loudly. The frightened camel pleaded not to do so.
The jackal said, “friend, I have this habit after every meal. I cannot help it.” Soon the farmer arrived and gave a sound thrashing to the camel. When the camel crossed the river, the jackal joined him on his back.
             In the midstream, the camel took a deliberate dip in the water. When the jackal was about to drown, he cried out in terror, the camel said casually, “I have a habit of rolling in the water after every meal.” The poor jackal was drowned.
Moral:
Tit for Tat

Story:  14
A Friend indeed is a need

Once upon a time, there were two friends. Once they set on a journey. They decided to help each other in a time of distress. Their journey started on the way. They reached in a forest. The forest was very deep, they saw a bear coming towards them. One of them knew how to climb on a tree and the other did not know. One friend climbed on a tree. The other was very seared. He thought of a plan. He knew that bear would not attack to dead. So, he lay down and controlled his breath. Bear came near to him, sniffed him and went away. This friend came down from the tree. He asked him what the bear told him. He replied that bear said, “never trust a selfish friend.”
Moral:
A Friend in need is a friend indeed. 

Story: 15
A Strange Hen

Once, there was a farmer. He lived in a village. He had a strange hen. It laid a golden egg daily. He sold the egg and got good money. He was very greedy. Not only that, wanted to become rich at once. One day, he killed the hen to get all the eggs. But he found only one egg. He felt sorry, but it was of no use.
Moral:
It is no use crying over spilt milk.
 

Story: 16
A Fisherman and a little fish

A poor fisherman, who lived in a village One morning a fisherman went to a river to catch fish. He had not lucked throughout the day. He caught only a small fish after a long wait. The fish said to him, “please put me back into the water. I am much small to be of any use to you. You may come again, catch me when I grow bigger.”
      The clever fisherman could not be taken in by its words. He said, “But it is possible that you may not come to be caught at that time it is better, to have a little fish than to have no fish at all, so I will keep you.”
Moral:
Something is Better than Nothing.
 

Story: 17
The King and the Spider

Robert Bruce was the king of Scotland. He was defeated by the king of England. He fled away to a forest. Furthermore, he hid in a cave. There, he saw a spider falling down from its cobweb. It tried to climb up again but fell down. It made eight such attempts but failed. Not only that, but it did not lose heart, it tried again and this time reached its web. It was a lesson for a king. He made up his mind to fight again. He gathered a large army, defeated the English army and drove them out of his country.
Moral:
Try Try again, never lose heart.
 

Story: 18
Two Friends and a Bear

Once, two friends were passing through a jungle. They saw a bear coming towards them. They were filled with fear. One of them at once climbed up a tree. The other lay down on the ground. He held his breath and pretended to be dead. The bear sniffed him and took him for a dead body and went away. When the bear had gone and the danger was over, the other fellow came down and asked, “what did the bear say in your ear?” He replied, “The bear advised me not to trust a friend who leaves you alone in times of danger.”

 

Moral:
Beware of fair-weather Friends.
